‘(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction’ by The Rolling Stones, written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, was released in 1965. Richards' throwaway three-note guitar riff – intended to be replaced by horns – opens and drives the song. The song gave the Stones their first US number one in June 1965. In the UK, the song initially played only on pirate radio stations because its lyrics were considered too sexually suggestive. When released in August 1965, it became their fourth UK number one. The song is considered to be one of the all-time greatest rock songs ever recorded. In 2004 Rolling Stone magazine placed ‘Satisfaction’ in second spot on its list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
